Torch Studio: Where Retro Meets Metro

Discover the inspiring studio space that is launching creative productions all around the District.

Tucked in the off-streets of historic Del Ray, Alexandria, Torch Studio is a sought-after space for creativity, connection, and community—whether you’re gathering a class, hosting a getaway book club, staging a high-impact photography shoot, or luring a muse out of hiding.

Walking through the door, you can clearly see the appeal. A warm orange accent wall sparks the space with black and white furniture and natural features giving this historic space a modern feel and a touch of whimsy. A whiteboard and extra chairs are poised for the next big idea. An espresso machine awaits its next order, ready to fuel the creativity to come.

These small but meticulous details are what make Torch Studio poised as the perfect location for photo shoots, classes, off-site planning days, community events, and more.

From Ice Cream to a Photographer’s Dream

At over 100 years old, this roughly 1200-square-foot studio wasn’t always so chic. What began as a city cafeteria became home to a charming sorbet shop, and then a newspaper press, and then a custom woodworking studio, and then an artistic haven. Perhaps it was the perfect lighting, or the ease of commute and parking, or the local magic of historic Del Ray—this studio seems destined to spark (and satiate!) creativity.

And So. Much. Potential.

When I first walked into what is now Torch Studio, it was love at first sight. As a photographer videographer, and producer by trade, I was astounded by how the natural light poured into the space. It literally illuminated possibilities I had never considered before (product photography, for one!) Its size and shape were perfect for what I envisioned this space could become.

And what it could be for so many others.

Blank Canvas, Meet Big Opportunity

As a photographer who constantly struggled with finding beautiful, adaptable—and readily available!—studio spaces, I went to great lengths to make sure this space checked all the boxes. Free parking. Accessible loading zones. Easy booking systems. An inspiring blank canvas with plenty of character. Close proximity to Reagan International Airport, Washington DC, Arlington, Old Town Alexandria, National Landing, and of course, Del Ray—and walking distance from the new Potomac Yard metro station.

Win. Win. Win. Win.

Gone are the wasted hours searching for the perfect production space in DC, waiting for availability, cleaning up what another vendor left behind, and parking in the nosebleed section of a neighborhood just to lug around heavy equipment in the rain and cold.

Specifically Designed for Connection, Creativity, and Comfort

My team and I take great pride in preparing every reservation so that no client energy is wasted on booking, traveling, or clearing the space. Our high-touch service has been warmly reviewed, and our growing Studio community inspires us daily!

Today Torch Studio is used for client meetings and brainstorming sessions, stylized photo and video shoots (food bloggers love coming here!), product shoots, music videos, branding, and even networking events. The open concept and high ceilings give these projects plenty of room, while the kitchen area is just large enough to fuel a long shooting day, rehearsal, or quiet study session.

The ceilings may be ## tall, but the sky's the limit for what you can do in this space—and what this space could do for you!
